Anita “Neenie” (Reynolds) Gabriel, 86, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her four children on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Waterford Health Campus in Kokomo. Anita was born on September 19th, 1939, to the late James and Kathleen (Arter) Reynolds, in Gary, Indiana.
On January 7th, 1961, Anita married Felix “Rex” Gabriel, who preceded her in death on November 28th, 2026. They were blessed with nearly 65 years of a happy marriage.
Anita graduated from Sharpsville High School. She later started working as a nursing assistant for over 40 years before eventually retiring. Anita had worked at Howard Community as a nursing assistant for over 25 of those years.
In her free time Anita enjoyed taking day trips with her husband and getting lunch while sightseeing new places. She was known for her outspoken and very opinionated personality. Most of all her most cherished time spent was with her family, and especially her grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.
Anita is survived by her children; Eric (Tonya) Gabriel, Brian (Millie Burchett) Gabriel, Felicia (Marcus Johnson) Morris, Andrea (Bill) Stonestreet, grandchildren; Conner (Kelsey) Morris, Cameron (Cassie Cooper) Morris, Ariel (Josh) Byers, Shawn (Audrey) Gabriel, Courtney (Kenny Buscher) Gabriel, Josh (Heather) Gabriel, Brittany Gabriel, Matthew (Kassie) Gabriel, a brother; John Reynolds, and 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews that referred to her as “Neenie”, and her beloved dog; Jaxson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; Rex Gabriel, sister; Anna Mae Lohrman, brothers; Jesse Reynolds, Charles Reynolds, and grandson; William Stonestreet.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Anita will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at 12:30 pm, located at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1204 N Armstrong St, Kokomo, IN 46901, with Father Peter Vanderkolk the celebrant. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service. A rosary service will be offered at 10:30 am.
A private burial will be held at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo at later date.
Memorial contributions honoring the life of Anita may be made out to the Will Stonestreet Technology Scholarship- Ivy Tech. Envelopes will be provided.
