Billy "Bill" Stewart

Billy “Bill” Stewart, 90, of Delphi, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. Bill was born on August 9, 1934, in Mortons Gap, Kentucky, to the late Benjamin and Lola (Sharber) Stewart.

On December 21, 1960, Bill married the love of his life, Joan (Lambert) Stewart in Logansport. They were married for over 50 years. Joan preceded Bill in death on August 17, 2014.

Bill had worked at Peters Revington in Delphi for over 20 years before eventually retiring. Bill then started his own trash removal service in town where he had a route for over 10 years.

In his free time, Bill enjoyed watching his old westerns, tending to his flowers and his tomato gardens, and spending as much time as he could outside. He was a jack of all trades. His most cherished past time was spent with his loving family, especially at family gatherings.

Bill will be remembered for his infectious smile, and his loving nature. Bill loved all people and had a true zest for life.

Bill is survived by his daughters; Theresa (Don) McCall, Brenda Miller, Betty McCall, son; William (Ann) Stewart, brother; Richard Stewart, sisters; Jean Whiteman, Debbie Fuller, 12 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife; Joan Stewart, grandson; Andrew McCall, 9 siblings, and a son-in-law; Darrell Miller.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 pm, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Davidson-Shirey Funeral Home, 121 North Union St, Delphi. A funeral service honoring the life of Bill will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 1 pm, with pastor Brent Oliver officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Heights Cemetery.
