Carman Jane (Pattengale) Dicks, 87, of Mineral Wells, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Palo Pinto General Hospital.
Carman was born on February 1, 1938, in Lafayette to the late Orval and Donna L. (Kauffman) Pattengale. On April 14, 1953, Carman married Warren J. Dicks, who preceded her in death on November 18, 1990. Carman and Warren celebrated over 37 years of marriage together. They truly adored one another and loved spending as much time together as they could.
Carman worked at Essex factory in Lafayette, and at Yaeger-Sullivan egg factory in Delphi for several years. Carman also worked at the Warren Paper in Lafayette. Warren and Carman also owned and operated a small restaurant outside of Lafayette for many years.
In her free time Carman enjoyed tending to her garden, landscaping, and sewing. She had a true passion for anything outdoors and loved to be surrounded in nature. Carman was also known to be a talented interior designer.
Surviving Carman include her children; Debra Allen, Rick Dicks, Jetta (Tim) Tharp, Brian Dicks, Warren Dicks, Jeff Dicks, sister; Patty Michael, and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Carman is preceded in death by her husband; Warren, siblings; Janet Humphrey, Jack Pattengale, Jerry Pattengale, Bill Pattengale, Larry Pattengale, and Dennis Pattengale.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, located at Davidson-Shirey Funeral Home, 121 North Union Street, Delphi. A funeral service honoring the life of Carman will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11 am, located at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Duke officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery.
