Donald E. Hutsell

Donald E. Hutsell, 68, of Delphi, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 17, 2024. Don was born on July 23, 1955, in Logansport, to the late Harold Gaumer and Irene (Lee) Hutsell. On November 1, 1980, Donald married the love of his life Susan (Hayden) Hutsell, who survives.

Don attended Delphi High School. After High School Don quickly began his career working for Cole Hardwood in Logansport, where he was a lumber inspector. Don retired from Cole Hardwood after dedicating over thirty years of service.

In his free time Don had a passion for being outdoors. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and gardening. Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed playing Euchre, Phase 10, and Yahtzee with his family. When he wasn’t outside Don could be found watching Old Westerns or spending time with his beloved dog Dunkin. Don was also an avid IU Basketball fan. His most cherished past time was spent with his family.

Surviving Don include his loving wife; Susan Hutsell, children; Donald (Stephanie) Hutsell, Brittany Hutsell, Heather Hutsell, grandchildren; Raebecca (Colton) Gerard, Steven Hutsell, Michael Hutsell, Emilee Hutsell, Kenny Gerard, sisters; Carolyn Johnson, Shirley (Jim) Parmeter, brother; Terry Army, and several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by brothers; Joe Army, and Milford Hutsell.

A funeral service honoring the life of Donald will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 am, with Pastor Leon Hessong officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Davidson-Shirey Funeral Home, located at 121 North Union Street, Delphi. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery, located in rural Brookston.

Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s honor to either the American Cancer Society, or The Humane Society.
