Duane B. Johnson

Duane B. Johnson, 89, of Delphi, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Creasy Springs Health Campus. Duane was born on January 31, 1937, in Buffalo, Indiana to the late Isabel Hann, and then adopted by the late Raymond and Ann (Grassmyer) Johnson.

On March 10th, 2003, Duane married Doris Ann Page, in Apache Junction, Arizona, and she survives. They were blessed with over 23 years of a happy marriage.

Duane was a 1955 graduate of Delphi High School. He later went on to serve an apprenticeship at the Monon Railroad, and he later he started working at Chrysler as a machine repairman, where retired after 33 years of service. Duane always kept a part time job to keep busy. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Purdue sports, oil painting and jigsaw puzzles. He loved being outdoors and spending time on the front porch in the summer. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Delphi. Duane was always known to give the shirt off his back to anyone and truly enjoyed helping and serving others.

Duane is survived by his loving wife; Doris Ann Johnson, daughters; Teresa Ostergrin, Marsha Ragan, step- children; Greg Stonebraker, Glenn Stonebraker, Mark Hayes, 3 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 11 step- great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a very special niece; Tricia Patterson.

Duane is preceded in death by a step-son; Gary Stonebraker, sister; Carmelita Hawk, and a brother; Bill Bales.

A funeral service honoring the life of Duane will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1 pm, located at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 1301 S Washington St, Delphi, IN 46923, with Reverend Paul Norris officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church beginning at 11 am. A graveside service will be held at Pretty Prairie Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions honoring the life of Duane may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, the Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
