Gerald Clear

Gerald E. Clear, 87, of Rockfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Majestic Care of Lafayette. Gerald was born on September 19, 1937, in Cambria, to the late Ervin and Katherline (Scolley) Clear.

Gerald married Shirley (Allen) Clear, and later in 1982 he married Joanie (Jackson) Clear, and she preceded Gerald in Death on September 7, 2013.

Gerald was a 1955 graduate of Idaville High School, graduating as the Valedictorian. After graduating Gerald joined the United States Army. He served from 1956 to 1958, where he assisted in the 4th Armor Division of Fort Lewis, and was later in the reserves. Gerald later drove semis and later started working in construction. He owned and operated a convenience store near Edna Mills and Burrows, named J&G Grocery for many years.

In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed to travel and be anywhere outdoors. Gerald also enjoyed wood carving with his chainsaw. He was also the past president of the Lions Club in Camden for several years.

Surviving Gerald include a daughter; Julie (Tom) Mears, sons; Tom (Kim) Clear, Jake (Becky) Clear, Rick Robinson, step-son; Mike Koning, brothers; Herb and Bruce Clear, sister; Sharon Yeck, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his loving wife; Joanie Clear, and a sister; Barb Danford.

A funeral service honoring the life of Gerald will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11 am with Pastor Richard McQuinn officiating, located at Shirey Funeral Home, 121 N Union St, Delphi. Burial will follow at Rockfield Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed. Friends may visit with the family the evening before, on Friday August 22, 2025, beginning at 4 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions honoring the life of Gerald may be made to either the Carroll Manor, or to the Camden American Legion Post 413.
