Jack L. Hammel

Jack L. Hammel, 84, of Delphi, passed away on September 4, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. Jack was born on Sept. 6, 1936 in Delphi to the late Ray Hammel and Lena (Pattengale) Hammel Pearson.

He was a 1954 graduate of Delphi High School.

He married Maria Oesterlein on Nov. 23, 1976 in Delphi. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2012.

He retired from ALCOA in Lafayette.

Jack enjoyed woodworking and was a drummer. He and his wife, Maria enjoyed clockmaking together. He loved collecting and showing classic/custom cars.

He is survived by children: Elaina Jacot of Delphi, Kimberly Daly of Lafayette, John R. and Michael K. Hammel and Christopher Daly of Delphi and Neil Hitze of Lafayette, 15 grandchildren and life-long friend, Duane Johnson.

He was also preceded by a daughter, Cathy Hammel.

A graveside service will be held at Masonic Cemetery in Delphi at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021. Lee Hoard will officiate.  The family will gather at the cemetery at 1:30 pm on Friday.
