James A. Knoth

James “Jim” Alfred Knoth, 81, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Jim was born on November 3, 1943, in Lafayette, to the late Francis J. Knoth and Thelma (Nicholas) Knoth.

On January 19, 1963, James married the love of his life; Keltie (Ritchie) Knoth at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lafayette and she survives.

James graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961. After graduation, Jim worked at Eli Lily as a process technician for over 30 years before eventually retiring. James was truly devoted to his faith and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi for many years where he served as a cantor for over 10 of those years. Jim was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Secular Franciscan Order. He also had a passion for building and carpentry, especially working outside. James favorite past time was spent with his family and especially all of his grandchildren.

Surviving James include his loving wife; Keltie Knoth, children; Laura (Wayne) Killian, Robert Knoth, Mark (Katie Jackson) Knoth, “Miki” (Terry) Bellah, Matt (Tonya) Knoth, Kyle Knoth, Michea (Melody) Knoth, siblings; Rick (Marge) Knoth, Mary Ann Fair, Ed (Kristin) Knoth, Peggy (Wayne) Reedy, Bob (Cindy) Knoth, 27 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by a daughter; Yowanda Knoth, brothers; John Knoth, Mike Knoth, Dennis Knoth, grandson; Jarit Smith, great-grandchildren; Alexa, Shea, Amelia, and Tucker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, beginning at 1 pm, located at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 207 N Washington St, Delphi, with Father Chris Miller the celebrant. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11 am.
