Leona M. (Scowden) Cain

Leona M Cain, 90, of Lafayette, passed away on Oct. 7, 2021 at her home. She was born on Nov. 11, 1930 to the late Jesse and Mary (Bailey) Scowden. She was a 1948 graduate of Battle Ground High School.

She married Wilbur C. Cain in Delphi on Oct. 14, 1947 and he passed away on Oct. 10, 2005.

She was a housewife and homemaker.

Leona was a member of the Americus Union Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, canning, crocheting and loved farming and raising her rabbits and chickens.

She is survived by her children: Devona Price (Ed) of Americus, Judy Grimes (Jim) of Lafayette, Cecil W. Cain (Linda), Gene Cain (Cindy) and Larry Cain (Teresa) of Americus; 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild.

She was preceded by her husband, Wilbur; 2 brothers, Earnest & Earl and 5 sisters: Ada Carte, Grace Cunningham, Winnie Proffitt, Minnie Scowden, and Ella Swisher.

Visitation will be from noon until the 2:00 pm funeral service on Oct. 12, 2021 at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi with Pastor Larry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Battle Ground Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Americus Union Church.
