Margie Helen (Fisher) Dunk

Margie Helen (Fisher) Dunk, 99, of Delphi, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, at St. Mary Healthcare Center in Lafayette. Margie was born on August 4, 1925, to the late Joseph and Emma (Wagoner) Fisher, in Washington Township in Lafayette.

On May 30 1943, Margie married the love of her life Everett L. Dunk. They were happily married for over 68 years. Everett preceded Margie in death on December 23, 2011.

Margie was a 1943 graduate of Buck Creek High School. Margie had worked at Globe Valve for over 28 years where she worked assembly until eventually retiring in 1985.

In her free time Margie enjoyed traveling and camping with her friends and family. She was a member of the “Whirly Twirlers” square dancing club, where she made many memories and friends along the way. She enjoyed watching Purdue Basketball, and she enjoyed being a member of the Lafayette Boat Club, and she was also a proud member of the Lafayette Church of Brethren.

Surviving Margie include her daughter; Linda (Bob) Merkel, daughter-in-law; Diana Dunk, grandchildren; Thomas (Shelly) Dunk, David (Shelly) Dunk, Michael (Heather) Dunk, Craig (Tara) Merkel, Heather (Ryan) Oakley, 12 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband Everett, son; Melvin Dunk, and a brother; Dave Fisher.

A funeral service honoring the life of Margie will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2 pm with Pastor Steve Crain officiating, located at Shirey Funeral Home, 121 N Union St, Delphi. Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Pyrmont Cemetery, rural Delphi.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions honoring the life of Margie may be made to either Habitat for Humanity, or to the Lafayette Church of the Brethren.
