Mary (McClain) Buckner, 85, of Delphi, formerly of Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Mary was born on September 28, 1940, in Kokomo, to the late Harold and Margarete (Bauer) McClain.
Mary was married to Alejandro Gonzalez, and later to Roy Lee Buckner, who preceded her in death on July 6, 2025.
Mary had graduated from Kokomo High School, and quickly began working. She held numerous jobs throughout her life where she met many friends. Mary eventually retired from Rosemont Health Care in Houston, Texas, where she had a passion for caring for other people.
In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, working on her puzzles and playing games when she could. She had a passion for Jesus and was always heavily involved in the church. She enjoyed preparing and cooking meals for her family, especially her famous fried chicken. Her most cherished time spent was with her family. Mary will be remembered for her infectious smile, and her joyful heart.
Mary is survived by her daughters; Cindy Voorhees, Judy (Mike) Rucka, Joan (Eric) Ross, a sister; Louise Gammans, grandchildren; Nathan (Emily Roberts) Voorhees, Alex (Brandi) Johnson, Leslie (Shawn) Wright, Riley Johnson, Seth (Lauren) Johnson, Joshua Rucka, and Caleb Rucka, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; John McClain, Harold McClain, Donna Paroski, Donald McClain, Robert McClain, and a granddaughter; Rebekah Voorhees.
A funeral service honoring the life of Mary will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 5 pm located at Delphi First Assembly of God, 9835 US- 421, Delphi, with Pastor Brent Oliver officiating. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 3 pm at the church.
Memorial contributions honoring the life of Mary may be made out to Delphi First Assembly of God. Envelopes will be provided.
