Phyllis Jean (Davis) Moore, 93, of Delphi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello. Phyllis was born to the late Ernest Lester and Ruby (Davis) Harrimaon on July 22, 1930, in Clarks Hill, IN. Phyllis married the love of her life Don Moore in 1947 in Rossville, who preceded her in death on September 20, 2009.

Phyllis graduated from Monticello High School. After graduation, Phyllis was the Curator of the Carroll County Historical Society. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and attended several courses in museum management, computer technology, collection preservation, and genealogy research. Over the years, Phyllis planned and developed museum displays, trained staff and volunteers, and helped raise funds for projects. Phyllis was recognized for her hard work and won several awards during her career.

She was active in numerous clubs and organizations throughout Carroll County, including the Indiana Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution-Wea Lea Chapter, New England Women, Eunice Mather Chapter (President 2002-2005), Colonial Dames of XVII Century, Post Ouiatenon Lafayette, Daughters of Colonial Wars, (Vice President), Continental Society, Daughters of Indian Wars, Delphi American Legion Auxiliary, Post 75 VFW Delphi, Gamma Nu society, (State President 1966-1970), National Society of the Dames of Court Of Honor, State Curator and state historian, Indiana Canal Society, Wabash and Erie Canal Society,  and the New England Historical and Genealogy Society. Phyllis truly had a passion for being involved in the community, and she impacted the lives of many throughout her journey.

Phyllis is survived by her son; Don (Bonnie) Moore II, daughter in law; Connie Foreman, granddaughters; Diane Hsia, Denise Muns, Kinzie Walker, Jessica Smith, grandsons; Robert Moore, Darrel Moore, Cody Moore, Chase Moore, 15 great- grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and niece; Kim Davis.

Preceding Phyllis in death include her husband; Don Moore, sons; Jackie Moore, and Gary Moore, granddaughters; Crystal Moore, and Vanessa Roach.

A funeral service honoring the life of Phyllis will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 1 pm, located at Davidson-Shirey Funeral Home, 121 N. Union Street, Delphi, with Pastor Bob Duke officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Morning Heights Cemetery in Delphi. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Phyllis’s honor to the Carroll County Historical Society.
