Richard “Kenneth” Green, 94, of Delphi passed away on Oct. 5, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. Ken was born in Hayworth, IL on July 11, 1927 to the late Roy Alva and Fern O. (Robeson) Green.
He married Mary Goodyear on Aug. 5, 1951 in Watseka, IL and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2019.
He was a 1945 graduate of Delavan Community High School in Delavan, IL and a 1951 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Music Education. He served in the US Navy from 1945-1946 and in the Naval Reserve.
He taught vocal for 2 years in the elementary school at Clifton, IL. Following that he served as an industrial engineer for various companies including Landis & Gyr in Lafayette. He retired in 1993.
He was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church and a member of the Chancel Choir, chairman of the Senior Adult Ministry, and a Lay Leader for the Church, Carroll County Cancer Association, a board member and former President of the Lafayette Chapter of the SPEBSOSA, former volunteer driver with the Carroll County Council on Aging and had served on the Board of Directors.
Ken enjoyed camping, photography and attending musical concerts.
He is survived by his children: Robert Lawrence Green (Lois) of Muncie, Marcia L. Brothers (Bruce) of Elkhart, Donald Roy Green (Diana) of South Bend; sisters: Virginia Soper of Pekin, IL and Maxine Green of Pekin, IL, 2 grandchildren: Sam Green (Sarah) of Elkhart and Bethany Green of San Diego, CA and great granddaughter, Olivia Green of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and a brother, Everett “Wimpy” Green.
Visitation will be from noon until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Delphi United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 with Pastor Todd Ladd officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Delphi United Methodist Church or the Bashor Children’s Home, PO Box 843, Goshen, IN 46527.
